What does it do?

Some of the symptoms of a fungal infection may include:

• Stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach cramps, fever, flu-like symptoms, sore throat, headache, chills, muscle aches, itching, or weakness

• Redness, itching, or swelling of the skin, face, lips or throat

• Stomach discomfort, vomiting, sore or watery eyes, mouth, throat, or skin rash or hives (fungal infection of the skin)

• Difficulty breathing, or other high or low blood pressure symptoms

• Trouble breathing

If you experience any of the above symptoms, do not take fluconazole.

Fluconazole is used to treat serious fungal or yeast infections, including vaginal candidiasis, oropharyngeal candidiasis (thrush, oral thrush), esophageal candidiasis (candida esophagitis), other candida infections (including urinary tract infections, peritonitis [inflammation of the lining of the stomach], and infections that may occur in different parts of the body), or fungal (cryptococcal) meningitis. It is also used in children on life support called extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). This medicine works by killing the fungus or yeast, or preventing its growth. Direction to Use:

DIFLUCAN® is administered orally. Use in AdultsFor vaginal candidiasis, fluconazole 150 mg (DIFLUCAN®) or 250 mg (DIFLUCAN®) 60 mg per kg daily is the recommended dosage. Patients with a history of hematological malignant clear cell or leukemia may be recommended fluconazole 60 mg per day.

Side Effects

Common fluconazole side effects include nausea, headache, and stomach pain. Fluconazole also exhibits effects on bone metabolism (gynogynozoites) and liver (palpitations).
